The scholarship aims to promote and sustain higher education in regional Australia, enhance the growth of regional tertiary education institutions, and provide students with an exceptional educational experience.

Eligibility for the Destination Australia Scholarship
To be eligible for the scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be an international student holding a student visa for the scholarship’s duration.
- You must be a commencing student or a University of Queensland alumni commencing a different program in 2023, such as a Master’s degree after completing a Bachelor’s degree.
- You must have a full offer to study one of the eligible programs entirely at University of Queensland Gatton campus in 2023. It is not necessary to accept the offer before the scholarship application deadline.
- You must study full-time via Internal study mode at University of Queensland’s Gatton campus for the scholarship’s duration.
- You must reside in a regional area of Australia for the scholarship’s duration, as defined by the Australian Statistical Geography Standard Remoteness Structure 2016 (Australian Bureau of Statistics).
The scholarship is available for the following programs starting in 2023:
- Bachelor of Agricultural Science
- Bachelor of Equine Science
- Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours)
- Bachelor of Veterinary Technology
- Bachelor of Wildlife Science
- Master of Agribusiness
- Master of Agricultural Science (Agronomy or Horticulture fields of study)
- Master of Animal Science
Please note that the Dual degrees with the Bachelor of Agribusiness and Master of Agricultural Science (Plant Protection field of study) are not eligible because they are not delivered full-time at University of Queensland Gatton.
It is strongly encouraged for students from low-socioeconomic status (low-SES), those who are first in the family to attend tertiary study, and students living with a disability to apply for the scholarship.
