ODI Fellowship Scheme 2023-2025

The ODI Fellowship Scheme is a two-year program that offers early-career economists and statisticians the opportunity to work as public sector civil servants in low- and middle-income countries across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, the Pacific, and the Western Balkans. The scheme provides fellows with a chance to work in various institutions, including finance and planning ministries, health and education ministries, central banks, statistics offices, and regulatory bodies, and they typically report to local managers.

To qualify for the ODI Fellowship Scheme, applicants must have a master’s degree or Ph.D. in economics, statistics, or a related field. The scheme is open to candidates of all nationalities, and specialized qualifications at the postgraduate level in agricultural economics, environmental economics, international economics, health economics, development economics, econometrics, and statistics are suitable for the fellowship. The scheme is also conditional on the successful completion of postgraduate degrees for those still studying at the time of application.

One of the most attractive features of the ODI Fellowship Scheme is its fully-funded nature. Fellows receive a total package equivalent to GBP 21,000 a year, which increases to GBP 23,000 in the second year, in addition to a housing allowance.
